There are 3 main forms of research areas within the Stellaris Technology. Each research area has many subsets within them. All the types of Stellaris technology can be gathered easily, which affects the rate at which you may learn new research projects. These research areas include Engineering, Physics, and Society. Furthermore, all of the 300 techs belong to the 12 subcategories. It greatly affects your playthrough, so you need to make a backup plan to work on. The interface of user aspect provides a card shuffling approach rather than a typical tech tree presentation. Therefore, a component of semi-randomness is introducing in the system. In the Stellaris technology section, 12 sub-categories are included. These sub-categories never affect directly, but there are traits that scientists might learn to improve the speed. Three main research areas in the game are available, by utilizing all the related areas of research resources. In addition, all of the research areas have several subcategories.

Here are research areas and their subcategories are given below:

Engineering Research

You are able to unlock new buildings, armor and engine upgrades by using engineering research path. Stellaris technology has options of various new spaceports upgrades. People who want to build huge armies should use engineering research path. Few subcategories are included in engineering research, such as;

Industry: Engineering Labs, robots, building, mineral production, storage, building construction.

Materials: Shield, some strategic resources.

Propulsion: Thrusters, kinetic weapons, explosive weapons.

Voidcraf: Ship types, hulls, strike craft, starbases.

Physics Research

If you want to expand your battle capabilities then physics is the main technology, which can go down. You can easily unlock new weapons, armor, shields, engines, and components of your spaceships, only if you give importance to the physics path. Stellaris technology allows you to have more adverse features that can be very useful. Other options will come into view rarely which allows you to research new surface buildings or new spaceport components. Few subcategories included in this research path, such as;

Computing: Research, science ships, point-defense, physics Labs, sensors.

Field Manipulation: Shields, Power Plants, and strategic resources are included.

Particles: Ship reactors, FTL, strategic resources, energy weapons.

Society Research

You can help your people to grow and enhance by using this category. Upgrades are shown in Society research path which helps the population development, build new worlds, boost your influence and lower the costs of huge army and civilization maintenance. Society upgrades are an essential part of Stellaris technology and for those who want more peaceful play through. It is also helpful if you want to control over an immense empire.

Few subcategories are included in this path, such as;

Biology: Bio Labs, leader lifespan, policies, species, food production, modification species, some strategic resources, army types.

Military Theory: Naval capacity, army building, fleet command limit, statistics, and claim cost.

New Worlds: Terraforming, sector and core sector limits, tile blocker clearance, Starbase capacity.

Statecraft: Leader pool, recruitment, planetary capitals, empire capitals, unity.

Psionics: Exotic mid-to-late-game technologies.

The Card System

Hence the fundamental Stellaris technology system is based on tech tree structure. A semi-random component is injected into the research, which makes it less predictable. A “hand of cards” is given by the game to the players, when they are provoked to start a research project. These hands of cards consist of a semi-random element of technology.

Stellaris technology

These technologies are available for researching which are random selections of the deck of cards.  Each time the player is introduced to the requirements, the Stellaris technology has added a question into a card deck. There are two basic factors which affect a tech to appear in a given card hand:

Tiers: There are 6 levels of advancement, which divided technology (T0 to T5). There is a specific number of technologies used for higher tier technologies.

Weight: The relative change is denoted by a base value, and a particular technology is drawn as an alternative. It can be altered by the composition of empires such as ethics, civics, and other compositions.
